Artemisia Gmelinii Extract

An extract of Artemisia gmelinii (Gmelin's wormwood), used in skincare as a soothing, skin-conditioning, and antioxidant botanical.

What it is

Artemisia Gmelinii Extract is obtained from Artemisia gmelinii, a wormwood species in the daisy family. Like other Artemisia botanicals it is used as a calming, skin-conditioning ingredient and provides plant polyphenols with antioxidant character. It is generally included at low levels to support a soothing feel in a formula rather than as a primary active.

Safety & warnings

As a member of the Asteraceae (daisy) family, the extract can occasionally trigger reactions in people sensitive to that family or to related pollens, so a patch test is reasonable for them. At typical use levels it is generally well tolerated and is not associated with comedogenicity.
