What it is
Beta vulgaris root extract is obtained from the common beet and contains sugars and naturally colored betalain pigments. In skin care and tinted sun products it is used to condition skin and, in some formulas, to contribute a soft natural tint. It is most often included at low levels as a botanical, plant-derived component.
Safety & warnings
Beet root extract is generally regarded as gentle and well tolerated in topical use. As with any botanical extract, sensitivity is possible in rare cases, and its natural pigments can contribute slight color to a formula.
