What it is
Brassica juncea is the mustard plant, and its young sprouts are rich in glucosinolates, vitamins, and polyphenolic antioxidants that are concentrated during germination. In cosmetics the sprout extract is used for its antioxidant and conditioning character. In sun-care formulas it typically appears at low levels as a supportive botanical rather than a UV filter.
Safety & warnings
Sprout extracts of this kind are generally well tolerated at cosmetic levels. As a Brassica botanical there is a small chance of sensitivity in predisposed individuals, and patch testing is reasonable for very reactive skin. It is not considered comedogenic.
Origin & sourcing
Natural, derived from the germinated sprouts of the brown mustard plant Brassica juncea.
