What it is
CI 15985 is a water-soluble synthetic azo dye that produces a yellow to orange hue. It is used at very low levels purely as a colorant, for example to fine-tune the tone of a tinted or tone-up sunscreen. It contributes color only and has no skin-care or sun-protection function.
Safety & warnings
As an approved cosmetic colorant it is used at very low concentrations. Synthetic azo dyes can rarely trigger sensitivity in predisposed individuals, but at the trace levels used for coloring they are generally well tolerated on skin.
