What it is

In cosmetic formulas it is typically present at low levels as a botanical conditioning ingredient and for its association with fresh citrus character. Safety & warnings
Citrus juices contain natural acids and fragrant citrus components that can be irritating or sensitizing for some people, particularly on compromised skin. Citrus peel oils are a more common source of photosensitizing furocoumarins than the juice, but caution is reasonable for sensitive skin. Used at the low levels typical of cosmetics it is generally tolerated.
