Citrus Nobilis Peel Extract

Citrus Nobilis Peel Extract is an extract of mandarin orange peel used as a conditioning and aromatic botanical additive in cosmetics.

What it is

This ingredient comes from the peel of the mandarin orange (Citrus nobilis) and supplies a light citrus aroma along with flavonoids and other peel constituents. It is incorporated as a supporting botanical to condition the skin surface and freshen the scent profile of a product. In sun care formulas it is present at low levels and does not act as a UV filter.

Safety & warnings

As with other citrus peel materials, residual peel oil can contain limonene and related fragrance allergens that may trigger reactions in sensitive users, and citrus peel constituents carry a potential for photosensitivity. Finished products use purified extracts at low concentrations to limit these effects.

Origin & sourcing

Natural; extracted from the peel of mandarin orange fruit (Citrus nobilis), commonly by solvent or aqueous extraction.
