What it is
Corylus avellana seed oil is a light, fast-absorbing plant oil pressed from the seeds of the hazelnut tree. It is high in oleic acid along with linoleic acid and minor amounts of tocopherols, giving it good spreadability and a relatively dry skin feel. In formulations it acts as an emollient that softens and conditions the skin.
Safety & warnings
Hazelnut oil is generally well tolerated and considered a relatively light emollient with low to moderate comedogenic potential. Because it is tree-nut derived, people with hazelnut or tree-nut allergies should exercise caution, as residual protein could theoretically pose a concern. It is not a recognized fragrance allergen.
