What it is
Decanal is a ten-carbon straight-chain aldehyde known in perfumery as aldehyde C-10, with a powerful waxy, fatty, citrus-like odor reminiscent of orange peel. It occurs naturally in citrus and other essential oils and is also produced synthetically for fragrance use. In sunscreens and other cosmetics it serves only as a scent component.
