What it is
Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer is a synthetic polymer built from ethylene, propylene, and styrene units. In cosmetics it is used to thicken and gel oil-based systems, control viscosity, and improve the texture and structure of products such as lip and color formulas. It serves a structural role and does not function as a UV filter.
Safety & warnings
As a high-molecular-weight, oil-soluble polymer it stays on the skin surface and is generally well tolerated. It is not a recognized fragrance allergen. It is not classed among the standard comedogenic oils, though very rich anhydrous formulas may not suit acne-prone skin.
