What it is
Gamma-decalactone is a cyclic ester (lactone) widely used as a fragrance ingredient for its soft, creamy, peach- and apricot-like scent. It occurs naturally in fruits such as peaches and is also produced synthetically for use in flavors and perfumery. In a sunscreen it is present to contribute to the product's scent and has no UV-protective function.
