What it is
Lysolecithin is produced by enzymatically removing one fatty acid chain from lecithin to form a lysophospholipid with enhanced water affinity. This makes it an effective emulsifier and penetration-enhancing carrier that helps create stable oil-in-water systems. It plays a formulation role and is not a UV filter.
Safety & warnings
Generally well tolerated as a lecithin-derived emulsifier. Because it can enhance penetration of other ingredients, it may increase the skin's exposure to co-formulated actives. Soy- or egg-derived sources are a consideration for individuals with relevant sensitivities.
