What it is
PEG-60 Almond Glycerides is produced by reacting the glycerides of sweet almond oil with about 60 units of ethylene oxide. The high degree of ethoxylation makes it water-dispersible, so it can act as a nonionic emulsifier and solubilizer while contributing a mild, conditioning character. It is used in sunscreens and other leave-on products to disperse oils and UV filters and to improve skin feel.
Safety & warnings
This ingredient is generally well tolerated at cosmetic use levels and is considered low in comedogenicity. Because the source is almond, individuals with known tree-nut sensitivities may wish to be aware of it, though processed glyceride derivatives are highly refined. As an ethoxylated material, suppliers control residual 1,4-dioxane. It is not a recognized fragrance allergen.
