What it is
This ingredient is an ester built from phytosterol and a branched fatty alcohol combined with an N-acylated beta-alanine derivative. Its amino-acid-type structure makes it effective at wetting and dispersing powders such as pigments and mineral UV filters, giving smooth, even particle distribution. In mineral sunscreens it helps the powders spread uniformly and improves skin feel.
Safety & warnings
Used as a dispersant and emollient and generally well tolerated, with low expected irritation potential. It is not a recognized fragrance allergen.
Origin & sourcing
Synthetic ester incorporating a plant-derived phytosterol component and an amino-acid (beta-alanine) derived moiety.
Questions everyone asks

It helps wet and disperse powders such as mineral UV filters and pigments so they spread evenly and feel smooth on skin.
Is it a UV filter itself?
No. It is a dispersing emollient that supports the performance and feel of the filters, not a filter.
