What it is
Santalum Album Oil is obtained by steam distillation of the heartwood and roots of the sandalwood tree, Santalum album. Its characteristic soft, woody, persistent odor comes largely from santalol isomers, and it is valued in fine fragrance and aromatic skincare. In sun care formulas it appears at low levels to contribute scent rather than to provide UV protection.
