What it is
Vinyldimethicone is a polydimethylsiloxane that carries reactive vinyl groups, which allow it to be crosslinked into elastomeric silicone networks. On its own and within such networks it functions as a conditioning, film-forming silicone that lends a smooth, silky slip and helps even out the appearance of the skin surface. In sunscreens it contributes to a pleasant feel and a uniform cosmetic film without acting as a UV filter.
