What it is
This oil is pressed from the seeds of Vitis vinifera, the common grape vine, and is notable for its high content of linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid. As a light, fast-absorbing emollient it conditions and softens skin without a heavy feel, and it carries naturally occurring antioxidant compounds. In sunscreens it contributes to emolliency and a smooth skin feel.
Safety & warnings
Grapeseed oil is generally well tolerated and is considered a relatively light, linoleic-acid-rich oil that is often regarded as low to moderate on the comedogenicity scale; individual responses can still vary. It is not a recognized fragrance allergen. As an unsaturated plant oil it can be prone to oxidation over time, so formula stability depends on proper antioxidant protection.
Origin & sourcing
Natural. It is a plant oil obtained by pressing the seeds of grapes (Vitis vinifera), often a byproduct of winemaking.
