Does the SPF in my makeup provide enough protection?
Usually not. To reach a foundation's labeled SPF you'd need to apply far more than anyone does — roughly 5–10 times a normal makeup amount. Treat SPF in makeup as a bonus, not a substitute: apply a dedicated broad-spectrum sunscreen underneath.
How do I reapply sunscreen over makeup?
Use a powder or spray SPF, or a cushion/stick sunscreen, pressed (not rubbed) over makeup about every two hours of sun exposure. These touch-ups are imperfect, so the layer underneath should be a proper sunscreen applied generously in the morning.
